How to Prepare for a Kitchen Remodel
If you are planning to bring in a contractor to remodel your kitchen, it will be important for you to do some pre-planning. Living in your house while workmen are remodeling can be challenging. In this blog, we give you some tips on how to prepare for a kitchen remodel.
Getting the Kitchen Ready
Before the start date of the project, get everything out of the kitchen. Pack your kitchen items in boxes, mark the contents on the outside, and store them. As you are packing these boxes, do not pack items you’ll need to use during the renovation.
How to Prepare for a Kitchen Remodel in the Rest of the House
Remodeling causes lots of dust and debris. A good contractor will try to minimize it, at least in the area of the kitchen, but it can still circulate into adjacent rooms. So, try to minimize the mess by keeping doors to adjacent rooms closed and covering furniture and floors.
This step is not necessary if you use the professional remodelers at Reliant Construction Group. Before the start of every project, we protect your home by installing dust containment chambers with commercial-grade HEPPA air scrubbers. We also cover all areas of flooring between the construction area and our exit doorway from the home.

Establishing a Temporary Kitchen
The kitchen is an essential part of life. You’ll probably need to set up a temporary one. It might be minimal with just a microwave, a coffee pot, and disposable tableware and utensils. If you have to do a lot of cooking, you will probably need more equipment and your regular tableware and cooking ware.
Another consideration is the refrigerator. Will you have access to it during the remodel? Or will you need to get a dorm-room size refrigerator to tide you over?
Lastly, you will need to have a source of water nearby. And you will need a place to wash dishes if you are using them.
